While I’m waiting for my new Canterbury Angling membership to start on the 1st April there’s still time to while away a few hours tying up some early season flies.
I came across this one the other day and it looks like the perfect early season buzzer – slim, dark, gills at the top and a nice shiny red and silver body to mimic those bloodworm type bodies. Here’s the fly tying video…
And here’s my version. Not quite as neat but I’ll tie a few more to practice before I make it out next week to the trout pool down the road.
And the ones at the top of the page are a few different buzzers I made up a few days ago. I wanted to go for early season colours, nice and dark with a few reds and greens and not too big. I bought some new ultra hard varnish with a decent applicator brush at that has really helped get a good finish on the buzzers. Lets hope they all work next week!
